Let’s brew a light wheat beer – that’s the challenge for 2021. Since it’s a light beer, the alcohol content should not exceed 3.5 %. Your grain bill must contain at least 20% BEST Heidelberg Wheat Malt and your beer creation should be brewed according to the German Purity Law. That’s it!
Ever since the challenge began in 2015, beer enthusiasts from around the world brew simultaneously at a set day and time. This year it will be Thursday, March 25th at 2 pm (CET). Due to pandemic restrictions, all participants are invited to share photos and videos via social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) – with the aim of virtually bringing the brewing community closer together. Share your posts with the hashtags #BestBrew and #BestBrewChallenge and they will be displayed on a social wall at www.bestbrewchallenge.com.
Anyone confident to brew a wheat beer is invited to participate. Every participant will get a BestBrewChallenge T-shirt. Registration is already open and will be closed a day before the challenge on March 24th. If you wish to have your beer evaluated, please send us a sample by May 10th. All beers submitted will be evaluated by a professional jury and all participants will receive individual feedback. The creators of the winning beer will be invited to the drinktec fair in Munich where the award ceremony will take place in October. In addition, the winning beer will be brewed and served during the fair.
