23 April 2015 was the 499th anniversary of the German Beer Purity Law. At this day, the world’s largest simultaneous collaboration brew took place, the #BestBrewChallenge.
With #BestBrewChallenge 75 brewers around the world brewed beer simultaneously – with similar grain bills in different countries and time zones. All participants used BESTMALZ products and a minimum of 25 % BEST RED X®. (Original gravity: 12 to 14 °P. Mashing began at 15:00 CEST.)
The brewer of the highest rated beer was honored at our award winners’ party to be held around the historic Heidelberg Castle September 12, 2015. The sommelier feedback ranked 30 beers as BEST BREWS 2015. Riverbend Brewing Oregon/USA won our BEST Brew Award Bronze. Rheinhessen-Bräu with its „World Wide Beer“ got excited about the BEST Brew Award Silver. The winner oft he BEST Brew Award Gold was Neckarsulmer Brauhaus with ist beer „Roter Flitzer“, created by brewmaster Karl Gruhler.
